Electrophoresis

Electrophoresis

Electrophoresis is a separation technique applied to the analysis of biological and polymeric samples. It works on the principle of migration of charged proteins in an electric field and separates the organic molecules based on their different interaction with a gel under an electric potential. It is also used for finer protein separation and visualization of separated proteins. Variations of this methodology are being used in DNA sequencing, fingerprinting, isolating biological factors associated with some diseases such as cystic fibrosis, sickle-cell anemia, and leukemia.
